It seems to be a Red Letter Day today. First off, Happy Birthday to:

[livejournal.com profile] meneleth, [livejournal.com profile] rosiedlotrfan, [livejournal.com profile] jaxomsride, [personal profile] whuffle, and (last but very much never the least) [personal profile] aralias! May you all have a wonderful time (and curses on the heads of all those who combine b'day and Christmas presents (well, unless they're really good ones))!

However, as at least three of them know only too well, it's also B7's Gauda Prime Day. *removes non-existent hat*

I've posted these two things before, including last year, but it only feels right to post them again now, because 2016. The vid is spoilery (as ever), but the meta is not. It's also short and I really do recommend taking a look, even if you don't know Blake's 7. Because 2016.

The Cave (S4 Vid by elviaprose).

Another Man's Freedom Fighter by The_Dancing_Walrus (G, 929 words. Meta.)

(For those who don't understand: I once wrote a non-spoilery guide to Blake's 7. It won't explain, because spoilers, but at least you know what I'm on about in the more general terms. Creaky old TV, as ever, in the even shorter version.)

I love that of all my fandoms, only two of them have a special day attached and one of them is an anniversary that's all about joy and hope and ridiculousness, and the other is... well, Gauda Prime Day. But sort of oddly bleakly hopeful anyway, I think.

It's a very good day, that produced three fangirls - not only me, but [personal profile] st_aurafina and [livejournal.com profile] femme_slash_fan! Happy birthday to both of you! Here's to a lovely day and best wishes for the upcoming year!

And apropos of nothing much, except that I found it yesterday & it's one fandom we all share, here's a vid rec:

This was somebody's anniversary tribute, so I don't know how I've avoided it till now. It's lovely! Very handy for if you ever need to answer the question, "What is Doctor Who and why should I watch it/why is it the best show ever?" (One warning, there's a sequence early on that has some quick cutting if that sort of thing is a problem.)

Happy birthday to [personal profile] whuffle, [livejournal.com profile] rosiedlotrfan, [livejournal.com profile] jaxomsride, and [livejournal.com profile] aralias! May you have a wonderful day!

Or, at least, as definitely two (three?) of you know, the best day you can, considering that this is Gauda Prime Day. May you keep your chins up, never lose your snark, keep the rebellion going, and probably you should watch fanvids and sigh?

Here are some appropriate vids I happen to like. It goes without saying that if you don't know B7, they're spoilery as hell. But if you don't know B7, you won't be, ah, celebrating Gauda Prime Day:

The Final Chapter

Intergalactic Space Crusaders

Last Man Standing

Cartoon Heroes (Slightly cheerier S4 vid, if you don't want angst!)

The Cave

My Life Would Suck Without You

And Another Man's Freedom Fighter - the piece of B7 meta you really should read. (♥ Also, it's not spoilery!)

*heads off to rewatch Blake*

... [livejournal.com profile] astrogirl2! I hope you're having a great day!

I have not much brain today, but knowing that you're as amused by these things as I am, I generated you some Unconventional Courtship summaries to brighten your day! (Or possibly just to make your hair stand on end.)

Happy Birthday!

... to the wonderful liadtbunny! I do hope you're having an excellent day, with all the gloomy old 70s telly you could possibly wish for. ♥

Also, in another note, there's a blog out there where the user has been reposting LJ posts without permission. (They seem to have set it up in some automated way to repost any posts tagged with "fanfic" or variations, or entries from selected blogs, possibly, but it includes anything tagged with that - random meme posts, challenge announcement and in one case, someone complaining about the blog stealing their posts, so they obviously don't bother looking at their own content.)

It's here

I've requested that my posts be removed. (They seemed to have taken all my entries tagged fanfic since July, regardless of fandom.)

I noticed (when going through the "fanfic" tag) entries stolen from [personal profile] john_amend_all, liadtbunny (happy birthday! your fic has been stolen!), kaffyr, and also [personal profile] still_lycoris, who isn't on my flist, but I know some of you know.

I'm actually a lot less bothered than I probably should be about people stealing my fic, but I do very much object to someone reposting my LJ entries wholesale, and I may need to make a lot more things flocked for a while, because if it's possible to set up something like that for one tag, who knows who else is doing it for whatever kind of topic? Clearly a public entry really needs to be something I don't mind being more public than I'd planned on.

(I'm posting this publicly and tagging it "fanfic" though, because if the blog ends up with a whole lot of posts warning the world against itself, it serves the blogger right. You know, can we go back in time and prevent the invention of Tumblr or something? Not everything is made to be reblogged and context is a thing that exists, even on the internet.)

Happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] astrogirl2! Here's hoping you're continuing to recover well - and having a marvellous day! ♥

I had this 500 prompts fic nearly finished already, as it happened, so it's here doubling up as some sort of birthday fic:

... to [personal profile] vilakins! Rather belated by now, but I hope you had a great day!!
lost_spook: (Northanger reading)
to [personal profile] leyna and [livejournal.com profile] lizzie_marie_23!

I hope you both are having a wonderful day!

Also, of course, happy birthday to Shakespeare, too.

(It's a good day today plainly, unless you're a dragon, of course.)
lost_spook: (pg - lynda)
to... [personal profile] evil_plotbunny! May you have a wonderful day - and I hope that things aren't too hectic for you!
lost_spook: (dw - brig/liz)
Happy birthday to the very lovely [livejournal.com profile] dimity_blue!

I hope you had a lovely day. ♥ Sorry, this ended up taking me longer to get around to posting than I planned! In the meantime, because you did think I should, here is my picspam of those two other UFO eps I watched (mostly Confetti Check A-O-K).

Happy birthday to [personal profile] seriesfive! I hope you've been having a lovely day - and very much hope this next year brings better things! In the meantime, I looked to see which of my nearly-ready S&S ficlets might perhaps double up as a birthday fic & found this. (And made the ending quite a bit shippier than planned for you - which was the bit that took all day and made this late! ♥)

(And, yes. Sorry about all the Silver/Steel; it's just a weird convergence of fics that were actually written months apart and not a sudden new trend).

Title: Opposition
Author: [personal profile] lost_spook
Rating: All ages
Word Count: 2249
Characters/Pairings: Silver, Steel (Silver/Steel)
Warnings None.
Summary: There’s an entity feeding off and amplifying negative emotion and Silver and Steel have already sent all the humans out of the way. Which means there’s only one explanation for why it’s still active…

Prompt 66: steel & silver - Bad boys & Jealousy. (The random generator may be evil and partially sentient. /o\)

Firstly, a belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY to [livejournal.com profile] mickeyk and [livejournal.com profile] aralias! (For some reason, it did not really occur to me that people might have birthdays while I was away. *cough*)

Also, on the 21st, it was the 30th anniversary of a certain TV episode. Everyone said 'Happy Gauda Prime Day' on my flist, but isn't that a contradiction in terms? (Shouldn't we have a special greeting, like "Many commiserations to you, it's Gauda Prime Day"?)

Anyway, under the cut have my fave B7 fanvid. Again. (And, yes, I know, I never thought it would be when I saw the song title, either. But it is. Also, as ever, DO NOT WATCH if you don't want to be spoiled completely. B7 fanvids are frequently like that. It's a thing.)

B7: My Life Would Suck Without You )

(Also, in my last post, I realise I forgot to mention outside of the cut that one of my gift fics featuring Silver is also a neat little Gauda Prime fixit, for those who like that sort of thing.)

ETA: I am home, but tired. I shall continue to catch up over the next few days.

I'm posting this early, but the fic is on Teaspoon, so it most likely will be the 21st by the time it's accessible:

Happy Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] john_elliott.

This was going to be an apology as to why I didn't write you birthday fic, but I suddenly worked out to make my idea a short one-shot instead of an epic, and lo and behold, there was fic!

A Stitch in Time
In which UNIT go about their business as usual. Except it's not 1970, it's 1922, the Doctor's run off somewhere, Liz is going undercover dressed as a flapper and the Brigadier's in need of some expert advice from someone... (1882 words, All ages)

This fic ought to be set in a more distant time for the point to work, but I couldn't resist the 1920s once I'd thought of it. But the other birthday-ish thing about this fic is that - if you want, you can now make an open series on Teaspoon and put my story into it. (Just be careful - the power crazed feeling that goes with this is worrying.)

Hope you have a nice day tomorrow!!

(If others are going 'Eh?' you must go at once and read John's fic Business As Usual in which the logic behind this is explained. And because it's brilliant, of course.)
