1. Calufrax is back in action and in need of more reccers! It seems to be harder and harder to poke a response out of readers these days, but it's still always fun & worthwhile.

2. Belated, but [personal profile] shinyjenni made a wonderful multifandom vid about the women of SF for Vidukon - her vidpost is here where you can tell her how awesome it is and see the list of fandoms etc.. embed )

3. Following up on the return of King Arthur in the wake of the EU Referendum result, here's one where Lord Vetinari takes over. (Yeah, we continue in limbo; none of the options ahead look good, but hey ho. Have a joke article.)

4. Also very belated - a fab Adam Adamant Lives! fic by [personal profile] swordznsorcery which was for [community profile] fandom_stocking for me and Liadt, and now up on AO3. (Swordznsorcery has now uploaded some of their other fic too and is worth checking out, especially if you like various old telly fandoms like Blake's 7 and Doctor Who etc.):

5. I haven't forgotten the crossover meme. I just... haven't written any yet. But I keep admiring my prompts, so, hopefully soon...

I feel sure there were some other fannish things that built up between my op and all the national upheaval, so apologies if I've missed something, but in the meantime, these are all shiny things!

1. [livejournal.com profile] dw_guestfest is now over! You can find the Masterlist here. (Please do check out the fic if you haven't already - it really has been brilliant all round!)

Given that I decided to count it as a success if I had even half a dozen people sign up, with say even 3 or 4 fics, I'm thrilled that we wound up with 18 fics featuring 20 minor characters (some of whom don't seem to have ever been written for before), I really am. We only lost one or two people to rl along the way, and the comm's on amnesty now for anyone who still wants to post anything or pick up any of the other prompts.

All being well, I should run it again next year, though hopefully now it's all set up from this time, a little earlier and with slightly more lead-in time. But yay! (Sorry. I always assume things I run will be a disaster and have low expectations, which then means I get very excited if they go well.)

2. [livejournal.com profile] calufrax is out of reccers again! If you can come up with 4-10 favourite fics from A Teaspoon and an Open Mind that haven't been recced before, then I recommend it - it's a lot of fun to do. (I know most people round here already know and have recced recently, but still. Making the announcement anyway!)

3. I'm sure there was something else. There always is...

[livejournal.com profile] calufrax is seriously out of reccers this time. If you have at least 4 fics from Teaspoon that you could rec, you can help.

I've literally just recced, so I can't do much more myself just now, but it is worthwhile & it's usually fun.

It's not scary - everything you need, including the posting template is there in the sign-up post. [livejournal.com profile] calufrax gets boosted on to Tumblr and other places, too & non-LJ users can rec as well.

(I don't do much signal boosting and I know most people round here follow the comm anyway... but it's [livejournal.com profile] calufrax, people, I have to try.)

I should say since I moaned enough about it, that I have now found an online source for OUaT S3 (might even be legal - looks as if it is), hence me being quiet of late, because my pc time has been eaten up by watching it, and in between trying to sort out recs because it's my stint on [livejournal.com profile] calufrax at the moment.

Anyway, here's the last of the OUaT fics I came out with the other week. (So it's not S3 related, just a thought I had for a long while, about Belle and the library.)

(Also, writing four OUaT fics has proved that the hits come with the ship, or in short, write Emma/Regina and you get attention, write gen about other characters and it's business as usual, but at least nobody wants to kill you.)

... to [livejournal.com profile] librarylover82! I hope you are having a wonderful day! ♥

It's also apparently a big anniversary for some TV show or another, but I don't know about that. I'm not using up all my energy spamming people flists with teeny tiny [livejournal.com profile] calufrax recs. Obviously. ;-)
lost_spook: (dw - Five Guilty Reading)
I'm reccing on [livejournal.com profile] calufrax again this week (they did not get many volunteers when they last asked so I went for it; I can't be worse than a non-existent reccer) and am oddly terrified and feel like a fraud. Luckily, my bookmarks are still all full of nice things as yet-unrecced. And, besides, [livejournal.com profile] eve11 made it to 50 recs recently - and informed me (when I congratulated her) that I was on 49. Much to my shock. So now I've made it to 50 as well! (Er. That wasn't the only reason I volunteered again, but it was a factor, maybe...)

Anyway, I meant to post this here yesterday and forgot - I'm sure it will amuse quite a few of you as much as it did me: [livejournal.com profile] touchdownpossum made an excellent/ funny K9/Mr Smith fanvid:

:-)

ETA: Oh, damn. I knew I'd completely forget to crosspost and just be erratic and inconsistent.

Reccing on [livejournal.com profile] calufrax always makes me waffle about it, but if I have not made this clear in passing in previous posts, it is now very short of reccers. I know that most of my flist are one of the merry few remaining/not DW fans/don't read the fic/or really don't want to do it. However, [livejournal.com profile] curuchamion was inspired to start a saignal boost post. ([livejournal.com profile] dbskyler and [livejournal.com profile] aralias have done one each, too, and [livejournal.com profile] cersia5 some Calufrax icons.)

Even if you come into any/all of the above categories, if you do enjoy getting daily recs, it would be very nice of you to pass the signal boost on, please. People probably have just not realised that reccers have got so few the comm is going to go bi-weekly.

I may mention how my week went, but I promise to keep quite on the subject again now. It is just that I like my daily rec - so many fics I would never have found otherwise, oh my! - I enjoy reccing, and it is always such a thrill if I am lucky enough to be recced.

This is the end of this recorded broadcast. Normal service will now be resumed. Thank you.

Well, I have now finished with reccing for [livejournal.com profile] calufraxand while I was looking forward to it more than not, I had no idea that it would turn out to be quite so rewarding, but so it was. I'm still a little regretful of the 4 fics that came close, but choices have to be made.

Also congratulations to [livejournal.com profile] persiflage_1and [livejournal.com profile] primsongwho are both winners in the Children of Time Awards, so well done them! I managed to make runner up, but I'm still too pleased with the whole reccing thing to take in anything else just yet. However, it means people must have bothered to vote for them & given the odd pair of fics, well... There were some wonderful fics on those lists, so I should at least give a little hop or jump or something presently.

And some more fic writing waffle )
