My other [community profile] hetswap fic was my first ever pinch hit, for [personal profile] glinda, who had included Eight/Charley in their requests, and so I had to try. And incidentally, now my sign-ups to assignments ratio is only one out! (I suppose that means that to keep it correct, now I have to pick up one more pinch hit and that'll fix it.)

So, that was fun, although I feel slightly bad because maybe a better, shippier person would have picked it up if I hadn't foiled them by snaffling it, but oh well.

I actually managed to write some things for [community profile] fandom_stocking myself! I didn't get to as many people as I wanted, but that's always the way. I also managed a handful of icons and one or two other small bits, but here's the fic:

6 fics in Doctor Who, Adam Adamant Lives!, Blake's 7, & Georgette Heyer )

I also started a joint S&S fic for [personal profile] kaffyr and [personal profile] annariel, but it got too long to be attempted for Fandom Stocking, so I'm going to work on it - it's at 2000 words now and has a better plot outline than it did when I posted it, so I'm hopeful, but it may take me a while yet.

I had my final prompt for [livejournal.com profile] dw_allsorts finished but for the last line and editing before Yuletide came around, so I've now finished it off, and completed my claim.

1. I decided to do [livejournal.com profile] naarmamo again this year. We'll see how it goes, but it's very laid back (indeed, it's practically horizontal in the nicest possible way) and I can always stop, or go down to every other day if I find it a bit much still. Naarmamo, is National Art Making Month, but it's just fun - you make and share one thing that counts as art each day and you can join in whenever. (It started yesterday, but I know people wouldn't mind if someone turned up on the last day if that was when they found it, or all they can manage.) At the moment, I'm planning to do icons each day. (I will share them here, too, at some point.)

2. I finally posted my Eighth Doctor Recs List to [livejournal.com profile] who_at_50, just in case there is anyone who would be interested but doesn't follow the comm. It was meant to be part of last year's big fanworkathon, but, er, it was delayed. I was at the time thinking of doing posts for the other two generally under-represented Doctors (along with Two and One), those being Six and Seven, but it's way past the deadline now and maybe it seems a little big-headed, I don't know. I probably will. I like recs lists and masterlists and things. I can't help it.

3. I've been starting to do some odd little bits of Heroes of the Revolution (my gloomy 1970s fake TV show) for [livejournal.com profile] runaway_tales, though I don't know if I'll eventually pluck up courage to do any posting. (Hopefully!) Anyway, I was trying to write a timeline for my alternate post-war history. (It's mostly vague). But it was interesting. I had previously settled on 1991 as the date of the series, but I think I should probably pull it back a bit to the mid 1980s. But I was thinking about various things off the back of this, and also the fact that the moment I start speculating about what happened to rl important people, it doesn't work, even though it's a perfectly sensible question. (If there's anyone you'd like me to kill off in this alternate reality, I could do it quite easily, though... ;-p In the meantime, I shall be contemplating foreign agents in Britain and what they might be up to.)

I am just at this point, a happy Who fan, who, apart from the penguins (they did not give me any penguins - sorry if that's a spoiler ;-p), got everything she asked for, and more. It was like getting a whole lot of presents and I don't feel like being critical, I just want to sit here and play with my nice new shiny things. I hope that is okay with those who'd prefer to point out the damaged casings and the slight scratches here and there...

As [livejournal.com profile] fan_flashworks were having another amnesty, I thought, in the absence of much brain, I'd try doing some graphics for it. Of course, the graphics turned out to be unusable and instead I accidentally wrote two ficlets, one another 100 Elements prompt ficlet, and the other a rather random Miss Marple meets Dracula crossover ficlet.

Also, a ficlet for the flight challenge at [livejournal.com profile] who_at_50, Flight (675 words, Eighth Doctor, Mary Shelley).

(Edited because apparently I have trouble remembering what I actually called my fic these days...)

This feels like it ought to be one of the prompt ficlets, but actually it was just a thing I wrote. (I do that still?) I listened to The Silver Turk a while back, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] paranoidangel42 & at the end Eight wanted a waltz. Well, if Eight wants a waltz, he should have one, that's my thinking... (And I'd forgotten how much I liked Eight and Mary from The Company of Friends.)

Title: Viennese Waltz

Notes/Warnings: Slight (non-spoilery) tag for the end of the BFA The Silver Turk. (Mary Shelley is Eight’s companion in a three-story run of audios. It’s not just random historical fic.)

Summary: Before they leave Vienna, Mary decides to let the Doctor have his waltz, after all.

Some nice things:

1. I have been catching up with some Big Finish, and have been listening to some more Eight and Lucie (I wish they weren't so much shorter - it makes them terribly more-ish!). I got to The Zygon Who Fell to Earth and was interested to see it had Steven Pacey in (who is, of course, Tarrant in Blake's 7). I wondered what he'd sound like now (and, yes, I KNOW he's in a Spooks episode, but I haven't seen that one since I've seen B7) and he was puuting on a West Country accent, drat him. And then being a Zygon. And then singing.

So, um, now the story is The One With Tarrant the Singing West Country Zygon. And to check it was him singing, I looked him up, and I hadn't realised he'd also been a bit of a West End star (apparently he got an Olivier award for playing Bertie Wooster in Andrew Lloyd-Webber's By Jeeves. Now I am all intrigued. Are there any clips of this?). I'm not usually one for bothering about rl actor details for characters, but there really ought to be some sort of cracky B7 fic in that, probably with Vila trying to make money out of it. (And then I also thought that B7 would work really well as an AU in which 'B7' was a pop group, with rivalry and people going solo, and rival bands funded by an evil corporation. It would explain the outfits. And I may have been delirious, yes. Sorry.)

... And I will be back another time with further delirium, as I see it is time for lunch now. :-)

(You can hear bits of it in this Behind the Scenes from R7 Here. There's a clip of the song at 3.14)

I'll try and get onto the meme reveal and answers presently, but [livejournal.com profile] pitry gave me '7, 2 and 14 are locked in a wine cellar - one finds treasure, one gets drunk, and one is planning to escape'.

As the characters in question were the First Doctor, the Eighth Doctor, and Donna Moss from the West Wing, it seemed immediately obvious that Eight would be treasure-hunting, that Donna would be the one trying to find a way out (practical as ever), and, erm, One would be having a nice time, drinking the wine. So, please accept that this is a piece of nonsense, but I had to write it:

Locked In )

I very much doubt there will be actual fic from the rest, but this just... wrote itself before breakfast yesterday.

Title: Five Times the Doctor Got in the Way of Captain Janeway (and One Time They Got Along Just Fine)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] lost_spook
Word Count: 5444
Rating: All ages
Characters/Pairings: Eleventh Doctor, First Doctor, Vicki, Third Doctor, Jo Grant, Ninth Doctor, Eighth Doctor, Charley Pollard, Kathryn Janeway, Chakotay, Tom Paris, Tuvok
Summary: Captain Janeway doesn't think much of time travellers and higher beings who turn up on board her ship. The Doctor doesn't take much notice of prime directives. It's a tea vs coffee thing.

I wrote this for the [livejournal.com profile] dw_straybunnies October Prompt of the Month. I don't know whether it's more ridiculous that I randomly picked my own prompt, that I ended up writing for it, that I was right up against the deadline, or that I didn't even exactly keep to the prompt. (It was just I had a sudden, entertaining vision of if lots of people wrote the prompt and Janeway was repeatedly confronted by versions of the Doctor lecturing her on time travel, and then there was a plot bunny bounding about...)

Anyway, I'm always happy to wind up writing multi-era nonsense. Already on Teaspoon (I was literally fighting the deadline last night - no time for LJ posts... Or watching Downton Abbey, darn the thing. Will be watching that very shortly!)
lost_spook: (Annie writing)
I've finished my endless UNIT series, so now I'm contemplating WIPs. I have other shorter things to do, but I can go back to at least one long fic. I shall probably tackle the first, but here's most of what I have of them. Which one would people prefer? (Of course, I'll probably get mugged by a passing plot bunny, but I'll bear it in mind).

Please note, some of this may not have been corrected fully yet.

And then in long-hand there's the Owl Service rip off for Eight and Lucie (sort of asked for by [livejournal.com profile] pitry Very sort of.), the one where Four, Sarah and Harry on get locked up for week, and probably others. Decisions...

A couple of my TTR stories I haven't linked to yet....

Master Test
(All Ages)
In which the Deadly Assassin and Traken Masters challenge their other selves to restore their evil reputations (after slurs of good behaviour are made in Plot and Loophole).  This is not as easy as it seems.

A very silly story in which the Delgado, Jacobi, Ainley, Roberts and Simm Masters find that being evil is too much like hard work.
http://www.ttrarchive.com/mastertestprelude.html

A Tale of Two Fashion Houses
(All Ages)
The Movie Master is set on being a fashion designer, he's enlisted the help of the Eliot sisters and a sinister tastefulness is invading the Round.  Wouldn't you know?  Eight and Charley struggle to put things right before anyone other than Harry gets killed.

This one came about due to the fashion designs of the Movie Master in Master Test.  Poor Bea and Evie are now in the Round for good.  I don't know what I was thinking... (Yes, I wrote a brief Who/House of Eliott crossover.  I'm sorry.)

One of the good things about starting this now is that I have quite a few stories to go back over.

I suppose a good place to begin would be where it all began a long time ago.  And with a story that could certainly use some explanation.

Here's the story:

The Doctor's left Wil and Jadi to sort out their differences while shopping.  Hmm, yes, that should do it...

(Actually, none of that is true - it all began with a Sixth Doctor two-part fic, that one day I might be brave enough to see if I can resurrect.  Especially since the thing is still out there without even spell checking.  Oh, the shame...)
