I was nearly there with my [community profile] trope_bingo before mini-summer hit, so I'm trying to actually tidy up and post the things I wrote. Here is the first:

I've taken part in the last two challenges for [community profile] iconthat - you make three icons for the comm, but I had trouble narrowing it down, so here are my challenge entries, plus a few extra for each.

I just found this on my hard-drive - I did it a few weeks ago as a writing exercise and forgot about it. (And I'm definitely stretching the definition of a sentence to breaking point in some cases. Heh.) I can't remember where I found the meme - somewhere about.

One sentence Press Gang fics )

(It's hard. I think I prefer word limits!)

44 x Sapphire & Steel icons and 53 x Press Gang icons. The S&S icons seem to have been growing slowly on my PC since this time last year, so are a bit of an odd mix. The Press Gang icons were made in the summer, I think and about 20 or so were posted to [livejournal.com profile] fan_flashworks for challenges.

Contents: Please note the Press Gang set includes an icon of a clown holding a gun. (There are 12 from S3 "The Last Word").

I'm not responsible for everything, I just make it look that way )

The usual rules apply: want, take, credit, no hotlinking. For texture credits etc., see my profile.

And now, the end of the housework meme! (Phew. That was a long meme.)

3. Press Gang – Lynda Day/Spike Thomson: getting an oil change for the car. From [livejournal.com profile] lolmac (All ages, 540 words) Who specified there was to be no vehicle substitution. I managed this, even though I’m pretty sure neither of the characters would have a valid UK driving license, let alone a car.

Lynda, you can't drive )

14. Spooks – Ruth/Harry: hoovering the curtains. From [livejournal.com profile] daibhid_c

I tried writing this, and I worked out that they were hoovering the curtains (probably in a safe house) as an excuse to keep an eye on what was happening outside, and that it was Ruth’s idea. But I couldn’t come up with anything non-dull beyond that. The best I managed was a conversation about hoovering the curtains vs washing them, and that point I decided it was better for everyone's sakes if I didn't attempt actually writing it. (Sorry. I think maybe I need to rewatch some Spooks, when I can. Ruth and Harry are kind of elusive.)

19. Doctor Who – Ben Jackson/Polly Wright: changing nappies. (599 words) From [livejournal.com profile] belantana (Who said that the baby didn’t have to be theirs, in fact, the unlikelier, the better. So, it was pretty unlikely. It's not terribly good, though, really, this one, but meme!fic. And I have prompts now. Prompts are cool.)

For various reasons (including explaining the unexpected ficlets I wrote for [livejournal.com profile] 50ficlets this week), I feel it's time for the Press Gang edition of these posts. There won't be much I haven't mentioned previously, because it's a rare fandom, but I've not put it all together before.

Also because this returned to YouTube, and it's one of my favourite scenes from anything, and can be watched and enjoyed even if you don't know what I'm on about with this show, or don't want to. Basically, Colin (Paul Reynolds) asks Julie (Lucy Benjamin) out on a date, but ruins everything in a record one minute. (Any spoilers are in that line I've just typed. And, yeah, no Kenny, Lynda, or Spike!)

"Act normal, say nothing dumb, don't scare her..."

(Plus a further 30 seconds of random Colin if wanted).

Press Gang fanvids and fic and more under here )

Well, this post certainly got epic - but I did fish out one or two new things, at least.

Two more:

Prompt 19: Lost & Found
Stars collide and Kenny runs into his Wrong Number, but as usual the universe hasn’t finished with him yet.
Love, Fate and Destiny
(864 words, All ages, Kenny Philips, Kelly/Dublin Girl. Kenny/Kelly. Set between S3 & 4.)

Prompt: 15 Good or Bad
Sometimes life is a mixed up fairy tale with no guaranteed happy endings, Prince Charming doesn't want to know about the damsel in distress, Red Riding Hood is out to get the wolf; the wicked queen's not so evil and Jiminy Cricket has his dark side.
Not A Fairy Tale
(999 words, All ages, S3, No spoilers. Kenny Phillips, Lynda Day, Tiddler, Spike Thomson, Sarah Jackson, Colin Mathews, Frazz Davis. This is the one I was complaining about…)
