1. Yuletide sign-ups are still open for anyone thinking of taking part. (I believe they close on the 9th, but check the link.)

2. For those of you in the UK who don't mind a bit of old telly, I checked the Drama channel, and guess what their next run of ancient TV on Saturdays is? It's the BBC's 1976-77 historical (Edwardian) drama The Duchess of Duke Street! It has a very slow start (even for ancient telly), but Gemma Jones is so fabulous throughout, and I recommend it. The bit where Julian Fellowes turns up and swipes the plot for use in Downton is also entertaining, and S2 has bonus Lalla Ward. (And then write me Louisa/Mary, because I never could manage it, though I tried.)

(And when I say Saturday, I mean tomorrow.)

3. Fall Equinox went live the other day. Lots of lovely fanvids! (The theme this time was 'based on books.')

For the icons200 challenge I've been gradually working my way through. I started these last summer and then stopped before I'd made the last handful for some reason. I have now made the last handful, and, lo, icons for the BBC's 1970s period drama The Duchess of Duke Street, featuring the ever-amazing Gemma Jones.

I put it down to being a snob and a bully. Both very useful things in running a hotel like this. )

I did actually make some icons for NaArMaMo that weren't from Enemy at the Door. Here are the rest (barring a few from Ripper Street that I hope to make a full set out of sometime) - mini sets on a theme for each day, in most cases.

Day 10:
In your own space, create a list of at least three fannish things you'd love to receive, something you've wanted but were afraid to ask for - a fannish wish-list of sorts.

Even though I've waited for well over a month, this time of the year is the worst for doing this. I just took part in Yuletide! And [community profile] fandom_stocking!! I had so many marvellous gifts, even in some of my completely obscure things and it was wonderful (♥) But, well, the meme dictates, and happy-making fannish things are nice, and I'm tired again, so here we are...

But really, my fandom stocking entry is pretty much my wishlist. Especially all the impossibly obscure bits at the end. Which I know nobody knows and all that, but still. And that's more than three things. Whoops.

My heart yearns for impossible things. (Isn't that just the truth? ;-D)

How about everyone else? What impossible fannish things do you want to see? Let's all be unreasonable together...

ETA: That was cheating, really wasn't it? I'll put some effort into it:

1. I could really use some Lynda Day in my life right now. Well, when don't you?

2. Some sort of mild Mary/Louisa or Mary & Louisa from Duchess of Duke Street. (I cannot write it, but I would love to read it.)

3. Someone to talk to about Public Eye S4 and "The Man Who Said Sorry". (Though said person is not allowed to dislike Mrs Mortimer. That would be sad. Maybe best not, then.)

4. I feel like Heroes of the Revolution is a real thing now. There should be fanfic for it/a fanmix/something... (Anyone feel like researching energy crises or something? ;-D I know, I know, that's the bit I'm supposed to go off and do. *sheepish*)

Oh, that was more than three. *cough* At least one of them was sort of possibly even achievable! *is proud of self*

There. I still want to know everybody else's impossible wishes, though...

I have made a fanvid and I don't hate it! I made it for some of the random TV I've been watching lately, so it is obscure (but I don't care). Also, there is more dancing. Apparently this is a thing now and all my vids will have dancing in. Even if it's completely inappropriate...

Maureen O'Brien in S1 of The Duchess of Duke Street. Plus, have some Gemma Jones caps I did for Tumblr. (She is awesome, and so are her dresses.)

I finished it today. I would say, what do I do now? But the truth is I got a bit down last week and used up the last of my birthday money on more David Collings things. So I have that. But I hope my Mum and possibly my sister don't borrow the DVDs for too long. I feel they're going to be something I'll want to rewatch bits of frequently. (Also, the ending: ahaha. My secret head!canon ships all became real.)

Plus, and more on this later (and below). I noticed a distinct couple of plot similarities to Downton Abbey. And guess who was in S2? Julian Fellowes. LOL. (Not that I'm saying anything - as it's sort of based on a real story, and also an old and well-known series, it's fair game for reworking. And maybe it's a little in-jokey nod, too?)

There will be more at some point. Probably quite a few more. Lalla Ward was in the last few episodes and got to sing, dance, do a bad Yorkshire accent and wear lots of nice 1920s dresses. Also, more Gemma Jones. Yes.

(I am slightly worried about my new-old David Collings thing, though. It occurs to me to fear the worst: maybe they made him wear a wig?)

I'm sorry. I'm tired. I'm not entirely making sense. Just look at the pretty pictures, okay?
